Crazy Lady Wants Dogs Killed!

The tongue can be a lethal weapon, it can destroy one’s reputation.

Page Six: RSB, The Appeal Begins

When we finished our last episode, crazy lady was down but not out.  She had admitted in a public forum that Smokey did not attack her grandson and had seemed to accept that the dogs were not vicious. She had also agreed to stop needlessly calling the police on house members.  As we’ve stated previously, and we will have to state again, crazy is as crazy does.

By the end of April we received notice that Barbara Tengeri had appealed the ruling of the Rent Stabilization Board.

Her appeal follows, followed by partial transcription and commentary:

Oh boy, where to begin…  Let’s start with the dogs, and we don’t have far to go, paragraph two of page one reads (in part):

[O]ne of the tenants who own [sic] two vicious dogs ran loose inside the entire house, and one ran down the staircase to where I live in the basement and attacked my grandson as we were about to enter my room.  The dog barked and climbed on my grandson.  He cried and was in fear of the dog.  The owner of the dogs came to rescue the dog.  I stated that on a previous occasion one of the two dogs attacked me and bit the back of my left leg… [Note it is "back of ... left leg".]

So she admitted in public that she had made it up, then she proceeds as if no such thing had ever happened, wtf?  How can that be?  Of course, the answer is insanity.  What else could it be?  It is not clear from this writing which dog it is that she claims to have bitten her, she must be confused.  About two thirds of the way down page two, crazy lady writes:

The Hearing Room was like being in an O K Corral.  It was noisy and disruptive.  Everyone on the other side was talking at the same time.  They deliberately caused confusion…and were loud.  Lillian Mayers, Hearing Examiner, struggled to bring the room to order.  Most of the time, it was noisy and disruptive.  I sat there and wondered why security was not called in.  I wondered why security did not show up.  At one point, I almost walked out [of] the room.

This paragraph is illustrative for raising two symptoms of mental illness.  First, the room was not all wild as Tengeri describes it, people were raising their hands and being called on by the examiner it was about as orderly as such things get.  So Tengeri was unable to think, it was too confusing, this is common with many psychological issues especially when mania is involved.  The stimuli are too fast, the diseased mind can not follow them; unable to filter incoming stimuli, the brain is overwhelmed.  This is a very common sign of mental illness.  The second important thing in this paragraph is that Tengeri thinks that it was purposely caused just to mess with her, she is showing signs of both paranoia and persecutorial delusions.

The last paragraph of page 3 reads:

Furthermore, approximately two days after I moved in, the female present at the Hearing (I believe her name is Ernestine Kelly) along with Mr. Mulz approached me in the laundry room, and stated, “I am ready for group sex”.  She snuggled up to him and smiled.  I was shocked!  From that day on, I never trusted them.

I am not sure, but this is the first that I am aware of this incidnet being brought up.  You may remember a few posts ago where Tengeri is referring to Mulz as that “very nice couple”, now she goes back and attempts to re-write history.  I am sure that it all makes sense to her in some warped and convoluted manner.  Yet she makes claims of adultery which are not true and have caused harm to others.

There are two more quotes that I want to take a look at from this document.  The first is from page four, below the middle of the page:

I telephoned the Berkeley Police and requested an Officer to stand and watch while I moved the garbage can and recycling bins away from my windows and placed them where they belong which is next to the entrance to the rear yard.  The Officer stood there and watched.

Evidently, the crazy lady wanted a witness to see that she had moved the garbage can?  Or did she want protection?  Maybe Oscar the Grouch was going to jump out of the garbage can and attack her?  Would the police shoot Oscar the Grouch?  Maybe a good tasering would do him some good.  This is as nutty as it gets.

Finally, second to last paragraph:

In addition, I noticed Ms. Mayers, Hearing Examiner, kept looking at my black gloves and her looks went on for a long time.  May I note for the record, I wear black gloves because my hands are clean and do not want to touch anything bare hands…a habit for many years.  My family consists of doctors and registered nurses.

Hoo boy, where to grab that?  Yep, crazy lady is spun.  Evidently she does not know about soap and water, or that dirty hands can be washed.  This paragraph also helps explain why Shadow sometimes barks at her, regardless of the time of year or the weather, Tengeri is wearing a hat and gloves.  Shadow knows this is not right, maybe she is telling the crazy lady to get some sense.
